Question: I have been diagnosed with keratoconus and my vision is deteriorating and I am not able to use my contact lenses any more. I would like to come to your Centre for evaluation and treatment. Would you please reply me with your suggestions?
Answer: We can see you in our Centre in Rome.
Usually, the patients who come from abroad arrive on Monday for the first ophthalmological check up.
The first examination, which lasts approximately 3 hours, allows us to define the entire situation of the patient. After this, we can decide the operation to perform the day after (on Tuesday). Then we will need other two or three days for the controls after the operation.
You have to take your lenses off at least one week before the surgery.
Question: I am using hard contact lenses from last two years which give me a good vision but now I’m feeling irritation and hard lenses became very panic for me. I want to get some permanent solution of my disease. Please suggest and guide me
Answer: I suggest you to read carefully my web site in English
(www.lombardieyeclinic.com) where you will be able to read about a definitive solution (Mini ARK) which we have been undertaking for 24 years with excellent and definitive results. You can contact us for a check up and then decide for the surgery. In my Centre you will be able to meet a lot of patients already operated with this technique. You can also visit the web site www.keratoconusinternational.com for other information on this technique. Question: I need your advice on my very low myopic eyes performed with the technique called Radial Keratotomy. After surgery the results were not good. That’s why the above surgery was repeated after two months.
The results were not satisfying and slowly the myopia reoccurred again.
Now I have to use glasses.
Do you think I can be operated with Lasik surgery or any other method to correct my visual defect?
Answer: I was disappointed with the results of your Radial Keratotomy surgery. In my long experience we never had such bad results and necessity to re operate for such low myopia degree.
Anyway we normally perform on our patients a LASIK operation after ARK without particular problems but we cannot guarantee results performed by other surgeons because, as you have experienced with the Radial Keratotomy, it depends on the skill and knowledge of the surgeons if you can have a bad or a good result.
If you think to come to Italy to be visited and eventually operated, we can only after the visit guarantee you which results are really possible after the surgery you already performed.
On principle, unless something really wrong has been performed on your eyes, we should have no problems to correct your sight definitely.
